outrageous poly count on this thing (something like 3.6 million quads..).
estimated modeling time is 12 hours, and another 2 hours to create/apply all of the mentalRay shaders.

just over 1 hour to render (1024x768) with mentalRay 3.4.

i think i'm pretty happy with the result, but as always, i'm open to suggestions..

maya --> mentalRay.

If turtles were more like this, I think drivers would make more of an effort to avoid running them over.

That is a huge amount of Polys!
Looks Awesome! I think it needs a Gun Turret though.

Don't you just love MR? I wish they would design it to be for non astro-physicists. What normal artist knows what 'ambient occlusion' is??
Oh well, at least it only took a hour to render. I used to use a SGI workstation with a 400mhz mips processor and 512 megs of ram running Maya 1 and something like this would take at least 3 hours and have to be rendered in several passes to crunch all that geometry.

If I even tried to open this file on the AM2 4000 I have today it would probably crash.

You should make a robot Quaker, William Penn, Oatmeal Dude. Do Quakers do aggressive?

Actually I went to UMBC our mascot is a golden retriever. His name is Champ (I think). He might lick you real hard. LOL

We probably have the only college basketball team comprised of geology majors. Sponsored by Vision Centers Opticians and the Sears Clothing Dept.

If you went to school there and find this offensive I am only kidding. I've been to Retrievers basketball games and they are a lot of fun. (lonely, but fun) lol
Sears is where America Shops!
