Yeah sorry, I deleted the previous version of this, and re-did it..

This is a 3D interpretation of a character sketch by Andrew Bell. The original sketch can be seen here. And be sure to check out the rest of his amazing art at creaturesinmyhead.com.

Modeled with Maya, subtle details added with ZBrush, rendered with Maxwell Render, and minimal post work done with Photoshop. Seems like a lot of work for a rather simple render, but I've got this workflow down now, and when I re-did this model, it only took me two hours total, including render time.

I have a feeling you will be seeing more like this very soon..
